Pickleball in Reading, Ohio

Koenig Park gives Reading players a local outdoor court option. For instruction or a session where you can meet other players, nearby Mayerson JCC and The Pickle Lodge offer organized play outside the city. Choose the park for a game with partners and a registered session when you are coming alone.

Koenig Park, 520 W. Columbia Avenue, Reading

Two pickleball courts occupy a former tennis court at Koenig Park. The courts have painted lines and installed nets, added through a collaboration between the city and WeTHRIVE! in Reading. Mayerson JCC, 8485 Ridge Road, Cincinnati

Outside Reading, the JCC offers pick-up pickleball for ages 16 and older. The August 23-October 13, 2026 series starts Sundays at 9 a.m., Mondays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Bring your own equipment; pick-up sessions do not include instruction. The Pickle Lodge North Shore, 7373 Kingsgate Way, West Chester

Outside Reading, North Shore has 17 indoor courts and six outdoor courts. It is a useful destination for weather-independent play, clinics and skill-divided open play. Membership is not required. North Shore location and booking app.

Where Beginners Should Start

Start with The Pickle Lodge's one-hour Pickleball 1-0-1 clinic. It introduces first-time players to the basics and welcomes non-members. Select North Shore in the Lodge's booking app, or call 513-759-8780 to book the beginner clinic. Pickleball 1-0-1 and follow-up clinics.

A closer group-instruction option is Mayerson JCC's fall course, Wednesdays October 21-November 11, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. Equipment is provided, and the course covers playing and scoring. Register through the JCC pickleball program page. For individual instruction, use the Coaches section.

Open Play and Organized Pickleball

The Pickle Lodge runs two-hour open-play sessions divided by skill level, including women's sessions. Non-members pay $12 per session and must register ahead. Use the paddle racks; winners split and stay, with a maximum of two consecutive wins before rotating out. Bring your own pickleballs. Open-play levels, fees and rotation.

Mayerson JCC's recurring pick-up series offers another way to play with others. Its November 15, 2026 doubles tournament runs 8 a.m.-1 p.m., with recreational, intermediate and competitive divisions for ages 16 and older. Register with a partner through the JCC pickleball page.

Visiting Reading and Finding a Game

If you are visiting alone, reserve a non-member open-play session at The Pickle Lodge North Shore. Choose your skill level and the North Shore location before booking; the organized rotation gives you a route into games without arranging a foursome. Mayerson JCC's registered pick-up program is another option if its series fits your stay.

If you already have partners and want to stay in Reading, use Koenig Park. A court there is an option for your own game, but it is not a promise that a group will be waiting when you arrive.
